Yes. We understand that childhood illness does not follow a schedule, which is why we reserve same-day slots for sick visits every day. Preston Ridge Pediatrics provides comprehensive pediatric care from birth through 18 years of age. We partner with expecting parents before birth through our expectant parent consultations, and we stay with your child through their newborn period, infant and toddler years, school age, and teen years.
Our services include newborn care, well-child checkups at every AAP-recommended age milestone, sports physicals, adolescent wellness visits, and college preparation checkups. We love watching families grow and are honored to be your child's medical home for their entire childhood.
Well-child visits, also called checkups or health maintenance visits, are scheduled at specific ages recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. During these visits, your pediatrician will measure your child's height, weight, and head circumference; screen for developmental milestones; review nutrition, sleep, and safety habits; administer age-appropriate vaccines; and address your questions and concerns.
We recommend bringing your child's insurance card, a list of any current medications or supplements, and any questions you have noted between visits. These appointments are one of the most valuable tools we have for keeping your child healthy long term.
Your newborn's first pediatric visit should happen within two to five days of leaving the hospital, sometimes sooner depending on how the delivery went. We strongly recommend calling Preston Ridge Pediatrics before your baby is born to reserve this appointment in advance.
At the first visit, your doctor will check your baby's weight, screen for jaundice, review feeding, check the umbilical cord, and answer all your new-parent questions. Bring your hospital discharge paperwork, your baby's insurance card, and do not hesitate to write down questions ahead of time. There is no such thing as asking too much at a newborn visit.
Yes. We offer sports physicals and camp physicals for school-age children and teens throughout the Alpharetta, Canton, Roswell, and North Atlanta area. A sports physical, also called a pre-participation physical exam (PPE), is required by most schools and youth athletic programs before a student can compete.
These physicals evaluate your child's overall health, heart and lung function, musculoskeletal system, and readiness for physical activity. We recommend scheduling well ahead of tryout deadlines, as appointments fill up quickly in late summer and early fall. Call 770-751-6111 to schedule.
A well-child visit is a scheduled preventive care appointment designed to monitor your child's growth, development, and overall health at specific age milestones recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. These visits are planned in advance and include vaccines, developmental screenings, and a comprehensive head-to-toe assessment.
A sick visit is for acute concerns, such as a fever, ear infection, cough, stomach bug, or rash. Sick visits are reactive rather than preventive. Both types of appointments are important, and preventive care is one of the most powerful investments you can make in your child's lifelong health.
